Despite inevitable rain during Stampede and periodic snow in August, Calgarians still find ways to enjoy the great outdoors — if only in the backyard.
For Calgary-area homeowner Alan Stiff, the desire to spend as much time as possible outside prompted him to invest $100,000 in a fancy outdoor living area with a souped-up kitchen.
“We have long winters. I enjoy barbecuing and being outside. I wanted to build something where we could actually go outside, even when there’s snow and cold, and enjoy being out there,” he says.
