Galaxy Note 20 gets a proper Android 13 rollout in the US

Samsung is widely rolling out the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 stable update for the Galaxy Note 20 series in the US. The rollout began last week but the company initially only seeded the new Android version to users with an unlocked Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra who participated in its One UI 5.0 beta program. It has now expanded the rollout to carrier-locked units as well.
The big Android update for the carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 duo in the US comes with firmware version N98*USQU3GVK1. SamMobile first reported this rollout, with the publication confirming that the update is available for users on Sprint and T-Mobile networks. Other carriers should also join the party soon, though. A wider rollout for unlocked units shouldn’t be too far off either.
The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update brings a plethora of goodies to the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones. Samsung has given its One UI skin a minor visual refresh with bolder app icons, reorganized menus, and smoother animations. Your phone should feel more fluent to use following this update. You also get more customization options thanks to the improved Color Palette and new styles for clock styles and other system UI elements.
Additionally, Samsung has added new camera features to Galaxy devices. There are also multiple new editing features. With OCR (Optical Character Recognition), you can now extract text from images. Stock Samsung apps such as Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, and Calendar get new features too. Bixby Routines also get improvements. Last but not least, the Korean firm is improving the accessibility, privacy, and security of its devices with this update.
This update for the Galaxy Note 20 series also brings the November security patch

Samsung’s Android 13 update for the Galaxy Note 20 series in the US comes bundled with the November security patch. The latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patches more than 60 vulnerabilities, the company announced earlier this month. These include about three dozen Android OS flaws, including a few critical ones, patched by Google. The rest are Galaxy-specific problems patched by Samsung.
If you’re using either the Galaxy Note 20 or the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US, you should soon get these vulnerability fixes and the goodies that are part and parcel of Android 13 and One UI 5.0. Since it’s a major update (weighing more than 2GB), we recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA (over the air) update.
