The re-theming of the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom attraction was announced in 2020, and since then, we’ve gotten several updates on the ride including an opening timeline, concept art, new characters, a glimpse at the grand finale, and a new name! Disney just released some new details about the ride, and it’s making us even more excited.
Disney unveiled Tiana’s new look for the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride! Walt Disney Imagineers recently attended the ESSENCE Festival of Culture in New Orleans, where they announced the new name for the ride and unveiled the attraction’s logo. Here’s a look at Tiana’s new outfit!
D23 interviewed costume designer Ida Muldrow and cosmetology manager Tisa Powell about Tiana’s new look. Authenticity, pride, and dignity were all important to the creation of Tiana’s outfit and hair. When asked about Disney’s approach to Tiana’s design for the ride, Powell said, “They told us what they wanted to do with Tiana, how they wanted to keep everything authentic and true to the ethnic background of African Americans.”
